Zlatan Ibrahimovic clattered Cesar Azpilicueta with a brutal challenge towards the end of Spain’s 1-0 win over Sweden in their final FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifier.
The Chelsea defender was man-marking Zlatan during a set-piece and the AC Milan forward expressed his feelings about it in quite an unfriendly manner.
He barged down Azpilicueta with a forceful shoulder tackle to the defender’s back.
After that, he acted as if he bumped into him by mistake in an attempt to fool the referee into not booking him.
It’s since been confirmed that Ibra was given a yellow card off-screen for the challenge. That means he’ll miss Sweden’s first playoff game in March – which they must win to keep their World Cup qualification hopes alive.
As for Azpi, he left a response on Twitter to one of the videos of the episodes:
‘All good around here,’ Azpilicueta posted on Twitter in Spanish, meaning that he should not face any injury concerns ahead of return to Chelsea.
