With Lyon firmly intending to keep Emerson at least until the end of his loan spell, Chelsea are looking for alternative options.
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are interested in signing PSG left-back Layvin Kurzawa who was previously explored by Lyon as a potential Emerson replacement.
The 29-year-old who has earned 13 France caps is out of favour at Paris Saint-Germain. He has played only one game this season, and that nine-minute cameo happened in the French equivalent of the Community Shield.
Kurzawa was linked with Chelsea several years ago, but the talks never got to an advanced stage.
There is of course a connection with Thomas Tuchel who coached the Frenchman at PSG during his time at the club.
Still, signing a player who has barely featured in this campaign would be a weird way to solve the issue of Ben Chilwell's absence.
