Rudiger and Lukaku out, Kounde and Dembele in: What Chelsea's starting XI can look like next season

There are only four games left for Chelsea this season and the Blues then have a huge summer transfer window to look forward to.

Thomas Tuchel admitted that he doesn't know how much new owners Todd Boehly and co are willing to invest in terms of transfers. However, we can certainly expect a few names to come in as well as a few to leave.

Antonio Rudiger's departure has already been confirmed by the manager, while Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta, Romelu Lukaku, Hakim Ziyech Jorginho and more might leave too.

Chelsea have, of course, been linked with a few big names and will have to replace a few of the starters who leave. Here is what our starting XI next season could look like if we can get some rumoured targets:

Possible starting XI

Bench: Baxter; Chalobah, Borna Sosa, Chalobah, Colwill, Kante, Kovacic, Gilmour, Pulisic, Werner

Declan Rice and Jules Kounde are the most heavily linked names to Chelsea. While signing both of them won't be easy given their heavy price tags, we expect at least Kounde to arrive this summer - Rice's status will depend on how much the new owners want to pay.

Gallagher will be back and should be starting a lot of our games next summer. Jose Gimenez is another name that has been linked with Chelsea since 2020 and it makes sense to get two senior centre-backs in as you are set to lose two this summer.

Ousmane Dembele can be a shrewd free transfer as he is no closer to agreeing on a deal with Barcelona. He was linked with Chelsea in January and shares a good rapport with Thomas Tuchel.

On the bench, Borna Sosa is a good backup left-back the Blues have reportedly been targeting and Kepa might leave, leaving on-loan Nathan Baxter to step up and fill his shoes. Colwill and Gilmour return from their loans too.
