The Times: Todd Boehly's All-Star game idea to be revived - but with a twist

The ex-Liverpool defender believes that the next step might be the revival of the 

 concept, in a similar vein to the major sports leagues in the States.

"What disturbed me most about Boehly’s comments in midweek is that they proved such cynicism to be correct," Carragher wrote in The Telegraph. 

"The sentiments which led to the Super League fiasco are not dead, merely in hibernation, with businessmen like Boehly waiting to seize the next opportunity to mould our game into an ill-fitting vision, his comments suggesting English football is not generating as much cash as it should be.

"That is why my Sky Sports colleague, Gary Neville, is so adamant an independent regulator is needed, ensuring what begins as an 'opinion' does not turn into a plan formulated by the most powerful clubs.

"What really annoyed me was the superior tone in which they were delivered. What must worry 

 fans is that Boehly is prepared to speak now, think later. Either he has not sought advice about how such comments would be received, or even worse, he has not listened to it."

Boehly has faced a lot of negative feedback for the ideas that he expressed just a few months after his group completed the takeover of Chelsea.

As the previous attempt to set up a breakaway league was also led by American owners of the Premier League clubs, the concerns expressed by Carragher are natural. Still, Boehly has shown no inclination to go down that route so far.

Explaining his logic, the American said: "I hope the Premier League takes a little bit of a lesson from American sports and really starts to figure out, 'Why isn't there an All-Star game?'

"You could do a North vs South All-Star game in the Premier League and fund whatever the pyramid needed very easily. Everyone likes the idea of more revenue for the League."

It is a long-standing tradition in American sports (such as the NFL and the NBA) to host an annual All-Star game featuring some the best players from across the league.

 was asked about the proposal on Tuesday, the German responded: "Boehly doesn't wait long. When he finds a date for that, he can call me. He forgets in American sports these players have four-month breaks so they are quite happy they can do a little bit of sport in these breaks.

"It's completely different in football. Does he want to bring the Harlem Globetrotters as well? I'm surprised by the question so please don't judge my answers too much, but maybe he can explain it to me at one point and find a proper date. I'm not sure people want to see that.

this beautiful game is all about money ,power and investment . I will never faults Toddy’s idea .
At first many wanted to crucify him but now they are beginning to give it another name and shape those that speak against it at first ,how will they feel now ?

With carragher if it had come from Liverpool it would be a good idea
