Chelsea bid for £50m plot of land key to Stamford Bridge redevelopment

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea have stepped up their efforts to revamp Stamford Bridge.

The club has made an offer to buy 1.2 acre plot of land next to the stadium.

The site that is owned by Housing association Stoll is seen as an important step towards the £1billion redevelopment project of Stamford Bridge.

The news comes a few weeks after it was reported that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has 'promised' to expand the current stadium rather than move to a new place.

Stamford Bridge has a capacity of just over 40,000 fans, by far the least among the stadiums of the 'big six' clubs.
