It a good guy, no doubts about it.  I would say the money placed on him is ridiculous. so, if there are alternatives why not going for that. players or football of nowadays is not buy name or buy big money fams. Look at Akanji that Manchester city just acquired, it's one of the best defender but how much did he cost? 
all arsenal players that are doing fine now, which one of them cost up to 100million. if we even look at the history of chelsea buying players, Any player they bought with a club record fee or break bank for they dont perform. go and check history. Nobody know eden Hazard before he came to Chelsea and he was not acquired with too much money that time. so what are we talking about

Honestly you've said the truth, what we need is for the Coach to create a playing system that produces result irrespective of the personnel
What Pep has done with City is create a System of play that produces result, so if you put in Ake who is worth 45M or Akanji who is worth 15M they will most of the times win matches, if Pep is Chelsea Coach now I bet we will win the League this season with the same players, City players hardly do well outside the club, KDB is scoring again at City after the WC disaster, if our Coach can create a winning style of play, Personnel and Cost does not matter.

Let's not forget Guardiola started at Man City. The back line he inherited from Mancini was completely renewed, including the goal keeper with a world record fee as at then.

Now, Man City are still with Pep with his DNA, the English champions back to back playing the best of football in England, and arguably the world at large. You should agree with me that Man City doesn't need that huge some of money to sign known established players, players are convinced of their pedigree, they will do everything possible to join winning team.

In the case of Eden Hazard. He was a hot prospect at Lille. I could remember that top clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern etc were all vying for his signature, but he publicly announced that he would be joining the champions of Europe which as Chelsea after we won the UEFA champions league in 2012.

My point is this: at this moment, we can't compare Chelsea of today with the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Real Madrid and other host of clubs. We are in the process of building a team just like Man City when Guardiola took over, just like when Liverpool broke transfer record on Alison and Van Dijk to make their defense what it is now.

This Croatian Josko Gvardiol is certainly the one we can build our defense around for the next decade and in my opinion, I wouldn't mind Chelsea breaking the bank to get him

However, I do completely agree with you that big money transfer sometimes doesn't guarantee success, but I hope and pray we are able to get things right this time and we return to glory days as soon as possible 🙏
