Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea are currently negotiating with Benfica over the sale of Enzo Fernandez.
The big news is that "Fernandez has said yes to Chelsea," Romano says.
What's left is for Chelsea to reach an agreement with the Portuguese club and the transfer will be confirmed next month.
Benfica will not stand in the way of the 21-year-old midfielder if Chelsea pays his release clause of €120m or surpass it. Argentina reporter Cesar Luis Merlo claims Chelsea are ready to do just that.
It's now looking like Fernandez will wear a Chelsea shirt in the coming month.
There's no question about whether Chelsea needs a player like Fernandez. The Blues are currently stuck with ageing midfielders like Jorginho and N'Golo Kante both in their 30s. On the one hand, Mateo Kovacic (28) is somewhat prone to injury like Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek (26) is inconsistent.
