Mikel Arteta breaks silence after Arsenal lost Mykhailo Mudryk race to Chelsea

Mikel Arteta was asked to comment on Arsenal's failure to sign Mykhailo Mudryk who ended up at Chelsea instead.

To his honour, the Arsenal boss did not deny the interest in the Ukrainian winger.

"I’m very proud to have the players that we have," Arteta told Sky Sports.

"We always want to improve the squad. The club is the first one that is trying to do everything we can to improve the players.

"But I think as well we have to have some discipline. We have to be very consistent in the targets that we want but also in what we are able to do in each moment. We can make the players better - let’s focus on that."

Arsenal had been involved in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over a deal for Mudryk for weeks before Chelsea swooped in and swiftly agreed a deal that could amount to €100m with all the add-ons.
