The Evening Standard's Nizaar Kinsella, a top source for all things 

, has provided an update on the Blues' renewed pursuit of 

 after the talks collapsed earlier this month. They are ready to go beyond the €120m fee stated in the midfielder's release clause but would pay the fee in installments.

They would give the World Cup winner a 7.5-year or 8.5-year contract, using the accounting loophole that would help the Blues avoid Financial Fair Play sanctions.

Chelsea cannot simply trigger Enzo's release clause because "buyout clauses cannot be spread over the length of the increasingly long-term contracts being offered by the club, unlike a transfer fee agreed between two teams," Kinsella writes.

Chelsea have been accused of handing long-term contracts to their new signings in order to cheat the 

 Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, according to the 

's new signings have been handed contracts of up to nine years - like in the case of 

 was signed on a six-and-a-half-year deal from Monaco.

FIFA clearly stipulates that clubs can only sign players on a maximum of five-year contract but Chelsea have found a way around that statute by registering the extra years on their player contract as a 'club-triggered' option. FIFA cannot oppose that. 

The point is that Chelsea can argue that signing a player like Mudryk for £88m only cost them about £10m per year. Thus, there will be no red flags with FFP rules in the Premier League or FIFA. 

"If you identify the right player and the right person, there are huge upsides to it. It’s a project for him and for us, and you can get synergy between the two of you," Graham Potter said when asked why Chelsea sign Mudryk on such a long contract.  

"If things go well, you have a fantastic asset and the club is secure in terms of the contract length. It’s a direction the club want to go down, and I’m supportive of that as best I can," Potter added. 

Apparently, Todd Boehly has done his homework before pulling out his fat wallet. Critics can only moan and groan but Chelsea cannot be sanctioned for spending lavishly to rebuild their squad. 

This is not the case of Juventus who were ducked 15 points for inflating and misrepresenting transfer figures. Chelsea are doing everything by the book.
