Demba Ba may not be the player that comes to mind as a Chelsea icon. He only spent about 18 months at Stamford Bridge, scoring 14 goals in 51 games.

However, for Jackson who is a Senegal international, it was certainly a special feeling to see his compatriot playing at this level, so it should not be a surprise that he has this memory.

have provided some background about the striker. Jackson is of Senegalese ancestry and was born in Banjul in The Gambia. He moved to Ziguinchor, Senegal at the age of 16, where he honed his skills playing in the streets.

He had a lot of untapped potential but until the age of 17 he still wasn't playing at a professional club. 

His father even wanted him to quit football at that time but as Jackson says, he was too 'stubborn' to do that, even quitting school at 16 to focus just on his game.

Nic's talent finally shone through when he was spotted by Senegalese club Casa Sports, at a street tournament.

In just the first two games for his first pro club, he impressed to highly that he was called up to the Senegalese U20s.

Fast forward one year and he was doing trials for major clubs in Europe.

Benfica were very interested in him but it was Villarreal who gave him a chance to show his potential.

His trial was watched by the Villarreal club president, who was so impressed by the tricky dribbler that he immediately gave orders to sign him.

By now he was already being called the 'Senegalese Neymar', back at home but he was about to make a switch from being a winger to an out and out striker, putting his massive 6 foot 2 inch stature to good use.

It took a while for him to adapt to a new country during the pandemic. There were coaches that had complaints about his eating habits as he would struggle to eat the food at the club.

He spent a year with the reserves after which Unai Emery promoted him to the first team, last year.

Jackson has since gone on to stun Villarreal fans with his attacking potential and skill set. 

He was set to move to Bournemouth in the January window but the deal collapsed due to his hamstring injury.

The comeback from his injury was a defining moment in his career as he went on to score a total of 12 goals in 26 games.

Jackson's most prolific month was May, when he bagged 9 goals in just 8 games, finishing the season with a player of the month award.

If Nicholas is a striker, so we don't need another young striker. If at all we need a real striker then we mostly need Harry Kane.
