Romano shares Toney to Chelsea latest

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Ivan Toney and Chelsea's reported pursuit of the Brentford striker.

The journalist wrote for The Daily Briefing that the Englishman is expected to leave the Bees in January and the Blues hold genuine interest in signing him. However, there will be competition from Premier League and Serie A clubs.

However, there is nothing advanced at the moment between Chelsea and Toney.

The Blues are still not entirely convinced they need a traditional no. 9. They also want to 'protect' Nick Jackson and other players: they hope to show they trust them by not making any moves at the moment.

Almost all the player that he has bought with the exception of Enzo has been. So debatable in term of needing or wanting them and in term being their being upgrade on those players they have been sold The judgement & decision of Boehly & Co has been so poor from firing all the back room staffs on their arrival, firing Coach & replace them with lower grade coach to players transfer ( how on earth can you be pushing to sell likes of Gallagher, Chalobah even Odoi @ a cheaper price & then went ahead to buy disasi, madueke, UgoChukwu etc to replace them( how are the latter an upgrade on the former in all ramifications?)

Exactly. These YANKS think with money you buy Success. Might work in a Game like BASEBALL where it is mostly individual Skill. NOT in Soccer. It takes time and a good logic. MCI took plenty Money, but 5-6 Coaches , SMART BUYING, PATIENCE, ADDING 2-3 PLAYERS on the weak spots every Year. To become the KING‼️😳‼️🤔

Exactly, and that's what Gary Cahill said after the recent Legends game. Each season we would get one or 2 players to slide into the team, no more than that. Not get rid of the entire "successful" team and replace it with 20 children ! 🤬🤬

as for that number 10 role we have Nkunku who is injured and that creative aspect we have Enzo but we need a proper number 9 which can keep the defenders at bay for wingers and midfielders to flourish like Haaland is doing or someone who can put fear in defenders not like Jackson who run for no reason

You're making sense. There is something that some chelsea fans do not understand. First of all, before even thinking of a striker, we need a creative midfielder no 10. Without that, even if we have Harland of mancity, it is still going to be hard for the team to go get goals. A football team is not complete as a team without a creative midfielder that has short and long vision of passing.

Oh my goodness God! So you saw the problem! That's it problem, no creative midfielder, mobile player that can supply passing at any where, no player that can take the ball travelling like Eden Hazard, no Middlefield players that can play with Jackson through middle of midfield except they play through fakes flack wings! No proper 10 and 8, Boehly and Co just wasted our old players like, buying baby unripe players, there's nothing wrong to bring Eden back to Stamford Bridge and to play along side with those players with experience. if it Abrahamovic, surely Hazard will return since

Hazard now is not the player of the past. I think that the injuries have gotten the better of him. Bringing in new players is not the answer. A new number 9 is also not the answer as Jackson is getting into those positions, and I believe it's just a matter of time before he starts scoring for fun. Bringing a creative player is not the answer as we are creating chances. We have to work with the player that we have got. Chelsea has assembled young talented players. All that's needed now is for them to learn about each other and play as a team. This will take time. We have to trust the process.

that's what I also was thinking about but they say his age is not what they want which he's a natural goalscorer

We need results at this time. If anybody needs time to develop he should go to the academy not in the main team. We can't keep giving time and trusting the development of players with no track records of substantial success in their entire career.
