Chelsea are confident that they are leading the race to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney, according to talkSPORT.

Brentford are resigned to losing Toney who may leave as early as January. The transfer could take place for a £60million fee.

Mauricio Pochettino is claimed to be leading the pursuit of the striker as Chelsea badly lack firepower. The Blues have only scored five goals in five Premier League games this season.

Toney has just started training with his team after serving the first half of his eight-month ban. The suspension expires on January 17.
