'He hasn't quite hit the requirements': Eddie Howe opens up on Newcastle's long-term plans for Hall

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe opened up on Chelsea loanee Lewis Hall's long-term future at the club in his recent press conference.

When asked if he is going to be a part of the long-term plans of the club, Howe said he most definitely is.

"Absolutely (he is). His transfer is complicated in terms of structure and he hasn’t quite hit the requirements. But he’s part of our long-term plans.”

The 'requirements' Howe is talking about had initially been reported by Fabrizio Romano as not difficult to reach for the club to sign Hall permanently.

“I can say that Newcastle don’t want to share this precise criteria [to make the transfer permanent] in public but sources guarantee it’s not super difficult to reach it,” Romano had written in his column for Caught Offside earlier this week.

“He’s settled in fine," Howe added on Hall. "He’s working well, I think we need to develop certain areas of his game.

"We have no doubts of his qualities and what he can bring to the team. He is doing a lot of things behind the scenes, we work with him daily.

“He was brought in with a view for the here and now. My view would be a bit of patience with Lewis.”
