Less than a week after the reports emerged that Chelsea are considering buying an Argentinian club, it has been confirmed by the country's president.
"We have the desire expressed by Chelsea to buy Boca, Racing, Estudiantes, Newell's or Lanus," the recently elected Javier Milei told TyC Sports.
"It's quick money. If the members of these clubs do not want, they will continue with the current system.
"I am a member and supporter of Boca and if investment groups come and invest a fortune so that we always win, where should I sign?"
Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have previously expressed that they want to work with a so-called multi-club model. Chelsea will be the main club, with several others under Boehly's ownership.
So far Boehly and Clearlake own only Strasbourg in France at the moment but are exploring various other options.
