Brighton transfer guru accepts offer to join Chelsea

Brighton head of recruitment Sam Jewell has accepted an offer to join Chelsea.

Brighton have released a statement confirming that Jewell has been placed on gardening leave.

"Sam Jewell has accepted a new position at Chelsea FC," read the statement. "Sam has now commenced a period of gardening leave. We thank him for his long service to our club."

David Ornstein reports: "The 34-year-old has resigned from the south coast club and is now expected to start in a global role across Chelsea’s owners’ multi-club model around November after serving his notice period."

Chelsea director Paul Winstanley had also joined the club from Brighton 16 months ago.

Swansea's head of football operations Josh Marsh is also reportedly set to join Chelsea as loans manager.
