Football finance expert says Chelsea avoiding FFP trouble 'more or less impossible'

Football finance expert Stefan Borson has said it is almost certain that Chelsea will run into trouble with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules like Everton and Nottingham Forest did.

Lewis Hall is likely to be sold to Newcastle this summer but that won't be enough and Chelsea will probably have to sell players like Chalobah, Broja and Gallagher as well.

"It will make no difference at all to Chelsea's FFP and PSR position if they sell players like Kepa and Lukaku," Borson told talkSPORT.

"They don't make any profit on those players - even if, which we expect, their book values have been written down substantially since purchase.

"They have to find buyers for [Trevoh] Chalobah for £20m, for [Armando] Broja for £40m, for [Conor] Gallagher for £50m. It's those sorts of deals that need to be done and, by the way, they all need to be done before June 30.

"It's actually articulated within the [Nottingham] Forest decision. There's a whole conversation about how hard it is to sell players in the period before June. The Premier League actually suggested more or less that it was impossible and got a slight rebuke."
