Todd Boehly reportedly to be replaced as Chelsea chairman, date revealed

Several weeks ago, reports emerged of an agreement between Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital that stated that the chairman position could be rotated between them every five years.

Now, the Daily Mail confirms those claims, adding that the decision has already been made: Todd Boehly will be replaced as Chelsea chairman in 2027.

In practice, it may not change too much. Clearlake Capital, a private equity firm managed by Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano, already have a 61.5 per cent share in the club. Signatures of both Eghbali and Boehly are required for all the major decisions at the club.

It's unclear if Clearlake Capital will take on the role themselves or bring in someone from the outside. In any case, it will not be Boehly, although he will have a chance to return in 2032 if he retains the stock and the interest in the role.
