McKenna to refuse Ipswich quadruple-wages offer with Chelsea in 'pole position'

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna is reportedly on Chelsea's shortlist to replace Mauricio Pochettino, who was sacked on Tuesday.

Brighton and Man United have also expressed interest in the 38-year-old, who took Ipswich from League One to the Premier League in just two seasons.

It's been reported that Ispwich offered the Northern Irishman a new contract in an attempt to stave off interest from other clubs. They are said to have proposed to multiply his wages by four, going from a £1.2m-per-year deal to £5m.

And yet, as per the BBC, McKenna is set to refuse the new deal offer. He is attracted by the prospect of moving to another club, with Chelsea in 'pole position' for his signature.
