Kieran McKenna no longer in race to become Chelsea boss – two remaining candidates named (reliability: 5 stars)

Chelsea have excluded Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna from their final shortlist for the managerial position, according to the very reliable David Ornstein.

The reports also say Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca and Brentford’s Thomas Frank are the only known options remaining to take over at Chelsea.

Despite McKenna guiding Ipswich Town to the Premier League in his first 12 months in charge, the Blues will not take a chance on the young manager.

The Chelsea hierarchy went into talks with him at the end of the season but are now set to go with one of the other option.
