Chelsea are pushing to sign a new striker before the beginning of the 2024 pre-season campaign.
As per Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have seen their opening offer to sign Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion rejected.
Chelsea tabled a bid of around €30m that could climb up to €40m with potential add-ons. But it was swiftly rejected by the La Liga club.
The Blues are still active in their pursuit of Omorodion and are still considering him as a primary summer transfer target. However, he has a €80m release clause in his contract.
They are also keeping tabs on Jhon Duran and maintaining contacts with Aston Villa in an attempt to find level ground for a potential signing.
It can be difficult for the Blues to sign Omorodion on a cheap fee. That is because Atletico Madrid are not willing to sell him, meaning they'd probably want a highly inflated fee for him.
The 20-year-old Spaniard had an impressive loan spell at Deportivo Alaves last season. He scored nine goals in 35 league games and has gained a reputation for his impressive finishing skills and pace.
