ESPN Brazil: Neymar fails to make top 10 post-Pele players, Ronaldinho second

ESPN Brazil launch a poll to decide the country's greatest football players since Pele with 160,000 votes have been cast. Unfortunately for ex-Blaugrana Neymar, he hasn't even made it into the top ten! Moreover, he is the only player to have received more negative than positive votes. The 27-year-old occupies the 11th place.

Ronaldo Nazario tops the list after his incredible spells at both Barcelona and Real Madrid, as well as fellow Italian rivals, Inter and AC Milan. He is followed by Blaugrana legends Ronaldinho and Romario. Another former Barca player, Rivaldo, is voted 5th.

It should be mentioned that Ronaldinho scored 94 goals in 214 appearances in the Blaugrana kit and won Champions League and Ballon d'Or during his time at the Camp Nou stadium.

Ronaldo Nazario, meanwhile, lasted only one season at Barca, nevertheless, he managed to score 47 goals in 49 matches in all competitions for the Catalan giants.

What about Neymar though? He left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain in the record-breaking €222m transfer in the summer of 2017 to step up from the long shadow of Lionel Messi. Unfortunately, the Brazilian once again got overshadowed by a fellow teammate - Kylian Mbappe now has more chances to become the next Ballon d'Or winner than the 27-year-old.

Neymar is currently sidelined with the metatarsal injury, the same one that prematurely ended his 2017/2018 season. There were rumours about his potential return to Barca, however, apparently, they are false. His father has recently confirmed there has been no contact with the Catalan giants and his son's future is at PSG.
