“Valverde is doing a magnificent job and we would be delighted if he continues but it is a decision of his that we respect,” Barca defender said after the game against Getafe.

Ernesto Valverde's recent claims suggest that the decision regarding his contract extension will be made at the end of the current campaign: “We will decide whether or not I will continue depending on how the season goes,” he said on Saturday.
Interestingly, it is believed that the Barca board want him to make up his mind this winter already. The club's officials understand that they will need time to find a new coach if Valverde refuses to sign a one-year extension. Valverde's deal with Barcelona runs out in summer 2019 but the coach has an option of prolonging it for one more year without having to sign a new deal.
Barca managed to grab the three points on Sunday evening as beating Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez 1-2. Luis Suarez then doubled our lead scoring a jaw-dropping volley from outside the box in the 39th minute but Jaime Mata pulled one back right before the break.
Barca somehow were able to survive the second half without conceding and are now five points clear at the top of the league with Atletico Madrid placed second. On Sunday, the Rojiblancos drew Sevilla who have only two points less than Diego Simeone's side. The 2018/19 sensation Alaves are fourth with Real Madrid being unable to get ahead as they have lost to Real Sociedad 2-0 at home.
