JUST IN: Barca reportedly win De Jong race for €90m

Looks like the Frenkie De Jong saga is finally over and Barcelona have emerged victorious out of it. Spanish, Catalan and Dutch main sports news source De Telegraaf confirm Barcelona are willing to pay €90m to secure the services of the multi-talented midfielder

Barca outbid powerful Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain during this run as De Jong's agent Ali Dursun proves as he has reportedly sent a message to both PSG and Manchester City stating: "Thanks for your interest, but Frenkie goes to Barca."

According to the multiple reports in the Catalan press, confirmed by renowned transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio; Barcelona have just presented a financially better deal for the midfielder. PSG's original €75m offer which was obviously exceeded by Blaugrana's €90m bid.

The Barcelona-based leading newspaper Mundo Deportivo run the story of De Jong's arrival this Wednesday, however, the whole drama has been dragging for several months and had its ups and downs. Last Thursday a whole Blaugrana delegation lead by the president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, hold talks with the player and potentially persuaded him to reject PSG and turn his sights to Barcelona.

Originally, Paris Saint-Germain won the race for the Ajax midfielder, however, he has repeatedly pledged his love and admiration towards the legendary tiki-taka playing style and local hero Johan Cruyff. Fortunately, the justice seems to have prevailed.

De Jong is a promising 21-year-old Dutch midfielder who has already made 68 first-team appearances for Ajax. So far this season, he has already scored four goals and provided an assist. Thanks to his playing style, De Jong is likened to legendary Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez. He is famous for his versatility and high passing accuracy; his average Eredivisie record is around 92.2%, as per WhoScored.
