Neymar reacts to Messi's temporarily Argentina retirement: 'It's a shame'
  • Brazil face Argentina in a friendly on Tuesday
  • However, the Barca No.10 won't take part as he has paused his international career

Former Blaugrana Neymar furiously reacts to Leo Messi's absence from the Argentina national team as the sides are getting ready for an iconic South-American duel which is scheduled for the Tuesday's evening.

Goal quote Neymar as saying: 'Messi not playing against Brazil? It's a shame for the game of football. We have to enjoy Messi as much as possible while we still can. The more he plays, the better it is for those of us who love the game.'

Argentina face Brazil for a friendly in Jeddah, on Tuesday, October 16; the kick-off is at 19:45 CET. Brazil are expected to be lead by ex-Blaugrana star Neymar who left for Paris Saint-Germain in a controversial €222m move in the summer of 2017. Two other Barcelona players - Philippe Coutinho and Arthur - could make the starting XI.

Lionel Messi, meanwhile, has paused his international career following the disappointing World Cup tournament in Russia this summer. Argentina were heavily beaten by eventual finalists Croatia in the group stage and would eventually lose to France in the Round of 16.

Legendary Argentina striker Maradona, meanwhile, has backed Messi to retire on a permanent basis from the national team as he doesn't deserve to be blamed for Argentina's struggles. However, in his most recent interview, Maradona has hit out at him for lacking the leadership qualities.
