Sport: Barca reportedly cool their interest in Jovic because of financial reasons

Barcelona are allegedly hit with an unexpected blow in their Luka Jovic's transfer pursuit. According to the local top source Diario Sport, the Catalans have cooled their interest in the striker and could even consider leaving the race for the Eintracht Frankfurt revelation because of the Germans' financial demands.

Sport believe the deal is 'dead' for the current moment as the Catalans are unlikely to play part in the highly anticipated bidding war for the striker. At first, Jovic was priced at 60 million euros, the sum Barca were initially ready to afford. However, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have recently joined the race and the potential transfer fee has gone up drastically.

Sport claim that Barca board believe that their interest in Jovic has been used by Eintracht to get the most profitable deal for their precious asset. Nevertheless, they are reportedly still hoping to lure the Serbian at the Camp Nou stadium. Previously, it was rumoured that the 22-year-old is 'captivated' by the prospect of playing alongside Leo Messi.

In total, Jovic has already scored 22 goals for Eintracht in all competitions. Barcelona are following his progress closely as their scouts have already attended several matches to watch the striker live. Moreover, Diario Sport previously reported that both the player and his representatives are allegedly aware of the Catalans' interest and its seriousness.
