Former La Masia star Andre Onana publicly opens door for Barcelona return

Ajax's goalkeeper Andre Onana opened the door for his return to Barcelona during an interview with Canal+ on Sunday late night.

He said: "I am still in contact with Barcelona's chairmen and the coaches. Barcelona is my home. If I can go back, I will return. But for now, I'm the goalkeeper of Ajax and I will see what will happen."

Curiously, it's not the first time Onana describes Barcelona as his home. Last May, he told BBC: "Barcelona is my home. Everyone would love to go to Barcelona, but for me, it's important to play."

The former La Masia shot-stopper has long been on Barcelona's radar. The Catalans tried to land him in summer as Jasper Cillessen's replacement.

Cadena SER reported last week that Barcelona reignited their interest in Onana. They added that Ajax wouldn't prevent him from leaving if the right offer arrives.

Onana spent four-and-a-half years at La Masia academy, between July 2010 and January 2015.

The 24-year-old has kept 15 clean sheets and conceded 37 goals in 39 games for Ajax this season.

For comparison, Barca's No.1 goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has kept 11 clean sheets and conceded 34 goals in 34 matches this term.

Transfermarkt value Onana at €36million. His contract with Ajax expires in 2022.
