Emmanuel Amunike played for just three seasons at Barcelona. The former attacker has recently relived the memories from his Blaugrana spell during an interview with Marca.
The Nigeria international said: "When I arrived at Barcelona, I found myself with the likes of [Pep] Guardiola, [Gheorghe] Popescu, [Hristo] Stoichkov, [Luis] Figo and Ronaldo [Nazario], who were all big names.
"It was a big change for me and I had to adapt to the new situation. It was a bigger challenge, a bigger atmosphere, with a lot of demands and responsibility."
Amunike joined Barcelona from Sporting CP in late December 1996 for $3.6million. However, he only managed one goal in 26 appearances in all competitions during his three-year spell at the club.
His sole goal arrived in the 1-0 away win against Logrones in March 1997.
The left-winger suffered a serious injury after the debut season, as he explained: "Unfortunately, I was injured after my first season and I didn't have the opportunity to show what I really have to offer as a player."
At Barca, Amunike won the 1996-1997 Copa del Rey. In 1994, he was named the African Footballer of the Year.
