Messi and 2 rumoured Barca targets make XI of best free agents in summer 2021

• Lionel Messi: The Barcelona captain tops this list as it isn't every day that one of the best players in history could be available on a free transfer.
• Gianluigi Donnarumma: The AC Milan keeper has established himself among Europe's best goalies at the age of 21 but Barca hardly need a new stopped as long as Marc-Andre ter Stegen stays at Camp Nou.
• Elseid Hysaj: With Sergino Dest on board, there's probably no place for the Napoli right-back in Ronald Koeman's squad. The Albanian, however, could be signed as a back-up to the American.
• Jerome Boateng: The Bayern Munich defender's move to Barca makes sense only in January as it's Eric Garcia who is set to strengthen the Catalans' back-line next summer.
• Sergio Ramos: The Real Madrid captain joining the Blaugrana would be something from a parallel universe.
• David Alaba: Would be a massive addition to Koeman's set-up but Barca are unlikely to meet the Austrian's wage demands.
• Georginio Wijnaldum: The Liverpool midfielder is famous for his versatility and remains to be among Koeman's top targets.
• Hakan Calhanoglu: The AC Milan attacking midfielder is arguably the last player Barcelona need right now.
• Henrikh Mkhitaryan: Even though the Armenian has been in an excellent form for AS Roma this season, Barca probably don't need new attacking midfielders anytime soon.
• Memphis Depay: The Dutchman is believed to be Koeman's favourite target to replace Luis Suarez.
• Sergio Aguero: One of Messi's closest friends will turn 33 next year so he's arguable too old for the Catalans. What's more, Barca don't have enough funds to offer the Argentine the money he earns at Man City.

There are also a few valuable options for Barca to consider signing for free next summer, including Andrey Lunev, Thiago Silva, Juan Bernat, Julian Draxler, Luka Modric, Angel Di Maria, Florian Thauvin and Arkadiusz Milik.
