Rival watch: Atletico Madrid now with only 1 striker following Joao Felix injury

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix suffered an ankle injury during Los Rojiblancos 1-1 draw at Betis on Sunday.

Felix' injury means Diego Simeone is now left with Angel Correa as his only fit forward going into the next round of games.

The likes of Luis Suarez, Moussa Dembele and Thomas Lemar are all sidelined for Atleti.

During the Betis game, defender Kieran Trippier got himself injured to add to Atleti's piling absentee list.

They top the league, but Atletico Madrid are just 2 points ahead of Barcelona with 8 games left to be played in the season.

Rival watch: Atletico confirm Luis Suarez's injury, Uruguayan expected to miss 2-3 weeks

Atletico Madrid have confirmed that Luis Suarez has suffered a muscle injury.

The Uruguayan had to leave training on Wednesday as he felt discomfort in his left leg, according to Diario Sport.

Even though the severity of the 34-year-old's injury remains unknown for now, the same source say that Suarez is set to spend the next two or three weeks on the sidelines.

Suarez's absence gives a huge boost to Barcelona's title hopes as the Uruguayan has been Atletico's best goalscorer this season with 19 goals in La Liga.

As things stand now, the Catalans are just one point adrift of Diego Simeone's men who sit at the very top of the league table.

Atletico drop points again, Barca now within 2 points of top spot

Atletico Madrid have dropped points again after playing out a 1-1 draw at Real Betis this evening.

Los Rojiblancos opened the scoring in the 5th minute through Yannick Carrasco. However, ex-Barca winger Cristian Tello levelled matters in the 20th minute.

Atleti failed to find the winner and hence dropped 2 valuable points.

It means that Barca are now within 2 points of Atletico and 1 point of Real Madrid who are 1st and 2nd on the table respectively.
