Jan Oblak picks best between Messi and Ronaldo, explains his choice

Atletico Madrid superstar Jan Oblak is in the Messi team! The Slovenian goalkeeper has named Leo the best player on Earth.

"I've always said that I would pick Messi. He's amazing, he plays at the highest possible level. He's the best for me," Oblak has said, as per Goal.

"[Cristiano] Ronaldo is another player I'd pick for my dream team. He and Messi marked an era in football. Everything they've achieved excites."

Meanwhile, Jan Oblak is incredibly close to claiming Atletico Madrid's long-awaited league title alongside Luis Suarez. The 28-year-old has conceded just 35 goals this season, securing 20 clean sheets.

Jan Oblak: 'It would be nice to play alongside Messi one day'

"Messi does incredible things. He can take the ball somewhere near his team's penalty area, run the whole pitch and score," Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak has told Cadena SER.

"Leo is a multi-talented player, and that's why he is the best for me. It would be easier to play with him than against him, I have no doubt about that. It would be nice. Messi is an all-rounder, for me that's why he's the best," the Slovenian star added.

Jan Oblak is considered to be the most expensive active goalkeeper – his estimated value is about €90m.

'One of the best in the world. It's an extra motivation to score against him': Messi on Jan Oblak

"It's nice to face one another. He [Jan Oblak] is one of the best goalkeepers in the world at the moment, and it's always good to fight against the best ones," Leo Messi has told Sky Sports.

"It's an extra motivation to be able to, or to try to, score a goal, with what it means and how hard it is, as he proves in every game he plays. So it's nice to see him outside but also face him in the games. It makes them more exciting," the Argentine added.

Just like 159 other world-class goalkeepers, Atletico Madrid shot-stopper has received a few bottles of beer for helping Messi set the all-time goalscoring record.

"Congratulations on your great achievement of 644 goals, Leo. I never like conceding but the challenge of stopping you brings the best out of goalkeepers too. Thank you for the special gift."
