Gavi's name appears on La Liga website with new squad number

The 18-year-old midfielder has appeared on La Liga's website with his new squad number - it's the iconic no. 6, previously won by 

Gavi's contract was a contentious one as La Liga dragged Barca to court to prevent his registration. 

The midfielder will now be placed on his new wages following the confirmation. 

Barcelona have set his buyout clause at €1B. The deal will run until the summer of 2026.

A court in Spain has ruled that the de-registration of Gavi from 

 in March was flat-out wrong, according to COPE. Hence, Gavi's registration in La Liga is now OFFICIAL. His release clause is set at €1B with the contract to run until 2026.

However, after another review of the documents and time stamps today, it has been discovered that Barca did submit their appeal on time and Gavi's registration shouldn't have been overturned. 

Thus, Gavi's contract is now registered with immediate effect regardless of Barca's wage bill problems. 

Gavi can now return to his no. 6 shirt and Barca can stop worrying about losing the player for free this summer. If there was any worry at all. 

Tebas: 'I want Gavi to stay at Barca but it's impossible to register his contract at the moment'

. But he has a salary that cannot be registered as of now, as Barca exceeds the salary limit by 200 million," Javier Tebas has said.

"We cannot break the rules. Barca has a solution -- cut expenses, increase profits... levers will no longer work."

The court which originally allowed Barca to register Gavi's contract overturned its decision following an appeal from La Liga. As a clarification, the decision was overturned on a technicality and not because the club's case was wrong.

However, it appears that the youngster will continue to be considered a first-team player by the Catalans.

you're talking about RB and LW only and not even the most important position.. you know even with the addition of Gundogan we still don't have any player that can replace Busquet. and the number 6 is the main key to balancing our play if we are to possess and keep hold of the ball.. it's just the key to the success of Barcelona since Cruyf and Pep so that should be our priority..
