"Rijkaard's management of Leo Messi is a good example when we talk about Lamine Yamal. Leo had injuries at the beginning of his career," Xavi has told the media.

Barcelona surely have to protect Lamine Yamal if they want to get the best out of the 16-year-old. The teenager has now turned into an impact sub following several appearances in the starting eleven.
As for Leo Messi, the Argentine had a relatively slow start to his Blaugrana career despite being a very promising player. He didn't even have any significant impact on Barca's glorious Champions League run of 2006.
