Lionel Messi has finished his first season with Inter Miami. The football legend helped his new team win the Leagues Cup title. It was a massive achievement for the club considering that Inter Miami were two points from bottom when Messi arrived in July.
Messi finished the season scoring 11 goals and two assists in all competitions after 14 matches games. He managed just one goal in six MLS appearances.
Unfortunately, Inter Miami finished the season in 14th position among 15 teams in the Eastern Conference. It means they failed to qualify for the MLS playoff. That also means they will not win the MLS Cup this year.
You might wonder how a team that finished 14th managed to escape relegation. Well, in the United States, teams cannot be relegated or promoted into the MLS.
However, thanks to Messi's influence, Inter Miami season tickets have been sold out for the 2024 season which begins in between February and March next year.
Inter Miami's season ticket previously cost $485 for 2023. The season ticket price was doubled to $884 with fans complaining bitterly online. But you can't find it to buy today. Everyone wants to see Messi play.
We can say that Messi's start to life in Miami has gone reasonably well so far. He's scored goals, won a trophy and made money. Plenty of it.
