Ter Stegen may miss out on Zamora trophy despite impressive record - explained

Marc-Andre ter Stegen will have to play all eight of Barcelona's remaining games to qualify for the Zamora trophy. The German hasn't played the required number of matches of 28.

Ter Stegen is currently on a run of 493 minutes without letting in a goal. He has 17 goals in 20 appearances, an average of 0.85 per game.

This would be enough to beat the current official leader, Unai Simon, who has shipped in 26 goals in 29 games for an average of 0.90.

Established by Spanish newspaper MARCA in 1958, the award goes to the goalkeeper who has the lowest "goals-to-games" ratio.

Ter Stegen is the current holder of the accolade, having conceded just goals in 38 matches.
