Xavi: 'It was a bad season but...'

"It was a bad season but the fans were always on our side," Xavi said.

"The players, the president and the coaches. We have to return the joy to them," the Barca head coach added.

Xavi is not wrong. It's quite unusual to see Barca finish a season without winning a trophy.

Xavi was so frustrated with his team that he announced he would leave Barcelona at the end of the season following a 5-3 defeat at home to Villarreal.

However, the Spanish coach changed his mind after being encouraged to stay by the board of directors led by Barca president Joan Laporta.

Barcelona will now be working towards changing their fortunes come next season as they fight for four major trophies.
