Barcelona are reportedly pushing to appoint Hansi Flick to replace Xavi as the new manager before the 2024/25 season.
According to journalist Helena Condis, the Blaugrana’s hierarchy consulted Ilkay Gundogan before having discussions with the manager.
They wanted his opinion on Flick and what the coach is like. Ilkay reportedly told them that the ex-Germany boss is a reliable and good coach.
However, Gundogan also made it clear that Flick was ‘soft’. Basically, he wanted to insinuate that Hansi wasn’t as strict or ‘heavy-handed’ as someone like Thomas Tuchel.
Gundogan, of course, worked under Flick when he was the Germany manager. Hansi has been out of a job since being sacked by the German Football Association last year.
Barca are interested in him based on his work with Bayern. Flick helped the German giants win two Bundesliga titles and a Champions League, including a treble in the 2019/20 season.
