Joan Laporta appointed Xavi as the new boss, despite doubts about his coaching experience – the gaffer had only done two seasons coaching in the Qatari league back then.
Fast forward three years, Laporta decided to part ways with Xavi. In January, the coach declared his intention to leave Camp Nou at the end of the season but had a change of heart after the cub president convinced Xavi to stay... only to fire a month later.
Ex-Blaugrana icon Hristo Stoichkov seemed to have foreseen this outcome.
"Laporta said that Xavi wasn't ready and he needed more experience. Today he wakes up and says that Xavi is the best option for the club. Does he want to kick another legend out the back door?" the Bulgarian told TUDN.
He knew it would happen all along.
