After agreeing to continue coaching Barca following an earlier decision to leave, Barcelona decided to pull the plug and sack Xavi last week.
But Xavi believes his chapter with the club could be reopened in the future.
When asked about a possible comeback, Xavi said, "It would be an honour to manage the club of my life again someday."
“The fans must understand that the economic situation is difficult. I am leaving with the love of the fans and that fills me with pride”.
Xavi was reportedly contacted by some clubs around Europe when his sacking was confirmed. However, sources say he plans to go on a one-year sabbatical before returning to coaching.
Xavi ends his Barca coaching career having won two trophies and qualified the club for three successive Champions Leagues.
