Gianluigi Buffon becomes first goalkeeper in history to keep 500 clean sheets

Gianluigi Buffon has set the record for becoming the first goalkeeper in recorded history to keep 500 clean sheets for club and country.

The 44-year-old Italian managed to get that record in Parma’s 0-0 draw against Benevento in Serie B on Saturday.

Buffon kept 322 clean sheets 685 appearances for Juventus, while keeping 77 clean sheets for Italy.

He’s managed 9 clean sheets during his short stint at PSG, while managing 92 clean sheets for his current club Parma.

Buffon recently voiced his desire to continue playing until his 50, as he doesn’t want to leave the beautiful game anytime soon.
