Euro 2020 winners Italy out of World Cup playoffs, North Macedonia and 2 more countries progress

Italy won't be going to the 2022 World Cup after losing 1–0 to North Macedonia in the playoff semi-final on Thursday.

Aleksandar Trajkovski scored in the 92nd minute of the game to shockingly knock the Euro 2020 out of the playoff tournament.

North Macedonia will now face Portugal, who beat Turkey 3–1 in the final with the winner of the game securing a place in November's tournament in Qatar.

Wales secured a 2–1 win against Austria thanks to Gareth Bale's brace and will face either Sweden or Czech Republic (whose game went into extra time) for the place in Qatar next week.
