The Europa League final between AS Roma and Sevilla lasted a whopping 146 minutes of football, not to count the penalty shootout.
As expected, the game was a bag of nerves and either side tried to influence the referee all game long.
Unsurprisingly, the referee Anthony Taylor handed out 13 yellow cards to players and a few more to coaching staff. In addition, there was a bunch of injuries and cramped legs. It felt like Roma's free-kicks in the injury time of the second extra half took an eternity to be taken because of all the action (or lack thereof) on the pitch.
As a result, Taylor added 6 minutes to the first half, 7 to the second half, 3 to the first extra half and 10 to the second extra half but teams played well over the assigned time.
In the end, it was all worth it for the Spanish side who were better in the penalty shootout.
