European winners are yet to sign a player this summer!

West Ham have not made any signings this summer even though the new Premier League campaign kicks off next week.

According to Guardian, there is tension between head coach David Moyes and the club’s new technical director Tim Steidten. The situation is described as a 'mess'.

Moyes wants at least two midfielders to replace Declan Rice and he wants players with Premier League experience. He has been reluctant to accept Steidten's targets.

In particular, the head coach would love to prise James Ward-Prowse from Southampton but the Saints insist on £40m while West Ham estimate him at no more than £25m. It probably doesn't help that everyone knows about the £105m the Hammers received from selling Rice.

West Ham have been linked to a host of players, quality potential additions like Scott McTominay, Conor Gallagher, Joao Palhinha and Edson Alvarez. Harry Maguire is also a target to shore up the backline.

Yet, none of these have yet been pictured with the claret and blue shirt.

West Ham should be well aware of the dangers of not signing players. Last summer, Leicester City didn't sign a single player until they panicked in the final days of the summer transfer window. The consequence was that they are now in the Championship. West Ham themselves finished only 14th last season, just a few points above the relegation zone.

And finally, the Hammers will play the Europa League this season and will need a good bench to rotate players. It really is the time to hurry up.
