Premier League club yet to buy a footballer this summer finally signs someone

West Ham are finally signing a footballer just a few days before the start of the season. And that's actually a proper transfer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Edson Alvarez from Ajax is joining the Hammers for a fee of around £35m.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder is expected in London in the next 24 hours for medical tests. Personal terms are already agreed.

Alvarez will replace Declan Rice and will most likely slot into the starting XI right away. The Mexico international had bigger clubs vying for his signature last summer but hey, Conference League winners West Ham aren't small, either.

For now, West Ham can cross out the DM off their advert for new players.
