'Deserves more credit': Fans name most underrated head Premier League coach - not Ange Postecoglou

Of course not Ange Postecoglou — everyone and their dog has heaped praise on the Spurs coach who says 'mate' all the time.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Gary O'Neil is doing a marvellous job with Wolves. Despite being a mess in the summer — a relatively quiet transfer window and the late sacking of Julen Lopetegui — Wolves are solidly midtable with 15 points from 12 games.

Most lately, they have beaten Spurs 2-1 at home. Although both goals came in the injury time of the second half, it wasn't jammy: O'Neil's team were deserved winners and, for once, got some luck going their way as Pablo Sarabia scored a stunning equaliser.

Many neutral fans have been hugely impressed with Wolves and their head coach. Here are some reactions on Twitter.

@DevildetailsMU: "Wolverhampton deserve that Gary O’Neil has to be the most patient and positive minded coach in the league, their approach play is very good but they’re terrible at finishing off attacks!"

@SVCarbaholic: "Wolves deserve that. First 10 mins aside they absolutely BLAMMED Spurs. Gary O’Neil did a top job at Bournemouth last season and doing another good job at Wolves this season. Underrated coach. Give him some more quality."

@kappetweets: "Gary O’Neil is probably the most underrated coach in England."

@LFCLaurie: "Wolves lost their best player and captain in Neves, leadership/experience of Moutinho and Jimenez and a very decent centre-back in Collins. They've had a lot of unfair decisions go against them this season too. The job O'Neil has done so far deserves a lot more credit."

O'Neil only started his career in management in 2022 when he was tasked with saving Bournemouth from relegation — which he did: his Cherries stayed up, at one point winning five games out of seven.

In spite of that, he was let go by the board who wanted a more proactive manager in Andoni Iraiola as, evidently, Bournemouth's underlying numbers under O'Neil weren't that good.

But judging by how solid Wolves have been, it seems like there's nothing to regret for the 40-year-old. Wolves actually play some electric football and dealt Bournemouth a 2-1 defeat a few weeks ago and are better off in the league standings.
