'I'm not convinced': Alan Shearer raises doubts over England chances of winning Euro 2024

After observing the March internationals, Alan Shearer has cast doubt on England's ability to win Euro 2024.

He told The Athletic: "If the back four is the same as it was the other night against Belgium, then yes [I'm worried]. If Kyle Walker and John Stones are not playing for England, then I would be concerned. I'm not convinced we have a great left-back."

"But then again if you go through every team, I'm not sure any of them have perfection. I don't think England are perfect defensively, especially if injuries are affecting them, but they are not alone in having potential weaknesses."

The Three Lions had a tough week, losing to Brazil on Saturday and then playing an exciting draw with Belgium on Tuesday. It was a close call against Belgium, with Jude Bellingham's last-minute goal saving them from a second consecutive home defeat for the first time in 11 years.

Defensive mistakes led to both of Belgium's goals, with Jordan Pickford and Lewis Dunk making errors.

England faced further challenges as they were missing their key defenders for the March matches. Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw were already sidelined before the games began.

Kyle Walker had to leave the Brazil match due to a hamstring problem, and John Stones had to be substituted just 10 minutes into the Belgium match.
