Player escapes red card despite reckless two-footed tackle right in front of referee's face

Scottish football is known for its toughness, but even former Celtic midfielder and current Ayr United coach Scott Brown couldn't stand by quietly when one of his players took a hard tackle.

Despite the referee being just a few yards away from the incident, McMaster from Airdrieonians escaped punishment, much to Brown's dismay.

When a loose ball ended up in the middle of the field, both McMaster and McHugh raced to get it. McHugh slid in to try and kick the ball to a teammate, while McMaster jumped in with both feet off the ground.

This tackle angered the Ayr players, who thought it was too rough. Despite this, the referee David Munro only gave McMaster a yellow card for the dangerous tackle.

After the game, Scott Brown said: "The tackle on Harry near the end was a disgrace."
