Al Ittihad have lost 4-1 to Al Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup final, but the action wasn't limited to the pitch.
Following the conclusion of the game, Al Ittihad's forward Abderrazak Hamdallah, a teammate of Karim Benzema's, was spotted being assaulted by allegedly an Al Hilal fan. The fan whipped his belt at the player as Hamdallah had to be held back.
The belt seems quite thick and heavy, but the whiplash seems to have avoided to footballer's face. It must be noted that the footage starts with Hamdallah throwing water at the fan, but just what exactly caused the altercation is yet to be clarified.
It's never a dull day in Saudi Arabia though. Most recently, Cristiano Ronaldo had a meltdown on the pitch, adding to his collection of controversial episodes in the Middle East.
