Brazil restricts rules of bookmakers' sponsorship on club kits

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has defined new guidelines that regulate the sponsorship of bookmakers on club uniforms.

The new guidelines seriously restrict the rules for bookmakers and football clubs. Here they are:

1. Clubs and sports betting operators can only include matches from competitions organized by the CBF on their platforms with prior authorization from the entity and, in state competitions, with authorization from the respective state federations.

2. Sports betting operators must present a declaration of non-involvement in economic infractions or ethical violations related to the manipulation of sports results, renewed annually. The CBF will send the standard declaration form to be sent by the clubs to the betting operators.

3. CBF reserves the right to prohibit the placement of advertising by companies not aligned with its policies or involved in operations suspected of economic infractions or ethical violations.

4. Only sports betting operating companies duly authorized by the Ministry of Finance can advertise in competitions organized by the CBF.

Should clubs violate these rules, they will be fined by the CBF.
