Shearer: 'If the season was to end tomorrow Henderson would be my Player of the Year'

Jordan Henderson produced yet another magnificent performance against Southampton on Saturday which left Alan Shearer particularly stunned.

The pundit is in awe of Hendo's attitude and work-rate and claims that without a doubt he is the one who should be named PFA Player of the Year, at least according to the past 25 Premier League games.

"I believe that if the season was to end tomorrow he would be my Player of the season. Absolutely no doubt about it," Alan told BBC.

"I think he was magnificent again today. The way he drove Liverpool forward, the way he kept everything moving, his attitude, his work-rate both attacking and defensively, starting moves off, can he pass it forward? Yes he can.

"He gets his reward (of his goal) because of his hard work.

"I thought he was magnificent, as he has been all season. What a season he's having, absolutely incredible. Player of the season, definitely.

"When you look at some of their performances, how special Liverpool have been, whether it's the goalkeeper, Van Dijk, or the front three, he for me has been the driving force. He's been superb."

Alan is not the first one to fully recognise Jordan's efforts. First, Hendo has recently been named England's Player of the Year while more and more pundits and players, including, for instance, Andy Robertson, claim that he should lift the PFA award.

Jordan scored a goal and registered an assist against the Saints and now has 2 goals and 2 assists in the last 3 Premier League clashes - all that and in parallel conducting Liverpool's midfield with his consistently solid displays in the pivotal role.
