Lazio keen on Liverpool striker Adekanye after forward decides to quit Reds

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, the Serie A side Lazio have revived their interest in Liverpool attacker Bobby Adekanye. The Italians want to sign Adekanye for free in the summer after their initial bid for the player was rejected in January.

The Laziale have kept close tabs on Bobby since November 2018. According to the report, Lazio have tabled a new contract offer to the representatives of the 20-year-old. TMW claim Adekanye has decided to quit Liverpool and rejected a new deal offered by the Reds last month.

While it may seem good riddance to all admirers of Liverpool front three, in fact, Adekanye's departure is a worrying sign, claims This Is Football's James Turner.

"There has not been the same noise about Adekanye as there has around other Liverpool teenage rising stars such as Rhian Brewster, Ki-Jana Hoever, Ben Woodburn, Bobby Duncan and Curtis Jones. But the Nigeria-born youngster is clearly highly thought of at the club’s Kirkby academy, given a new contract was offered to him last month," Turner says.

"His failure to accept it, and the speculation over his future, explains why Adekanye has been frozen out of the Under-23s side after being a regular starter in the first half of the season. No club wants to lose its best young players, especially to an overseas giant who won’t have to pay more than a peppercorn compensation fee."
